Big Apple:
How Did
New York City
Got This Nickname?
The
Big Apple,
city that never sleeps, is a moniker or an
alias for New York City. The Big
Apple was first popularized as a
reference to New York City as horse
racing city in the 1920's by writer
John J. Fitz Gerald.
Later, between 1940 to 1950, came a
popular song and dance titled "The
Big Apple." This time, the context
of the song was no longer pointing
to New York City as a horse racing
city.
In the 1960's the New York
Convention and Visitor's Bureau,
began promoting "The Big Apple" as
New York City's moniker.
Finally, in 1997, Mayor Rudolph W.
Giuliani signed a legislation
designating the southwest corner of
West 54th Street and Broadway, the
corner where John J. Fitz Gerald
resided from 1934 to 1963 as "The
Big Apple" corner.(Source: Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia)
How to Make Your Web Site Content-Rich and
Search Engine Optimized
(SEO) at the Speed of Lightning
Search engine optimization (SEO)
strategies are collection of strategies used in designing and
maintaining a web site, so that it comes out on the first pages of
search results of Google, Yahoo, and MSN when key terms related to
the pages or site are searched by an Internet user. There are other
web sites catering to search engine services. But these three giants
(Google, Yahoo, and MSN) are the most popular ones.
The words used in a web site's domain name could be helpful key
terms for a particular web site. A domain name like BigAppleCity.com,
for example, will surely be on top of the search result pages when
one searches for key terms "big apple city" in Google.
