The giant Christmas tree is the latest attraction in the Rockefeller Center at this year’s Christmas season. The Christmas tree is New York City’s crowd-pleaser on Christmas days. Thousands of tourists come to to visit the place, creating big traffic around the area.

The erection of giant Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center was started in December 24, 1931 by construction workers, who were then clearing the place for new construction of building.  The first decoration of the said Christmas tree was made of tin cans hung around the Christmas tree. Since then the said Christmas tree erection became a tradition, and became more lavish with giant tree decorated by thousands of expensive Christmas lights.

This year’s Christmas tree was built above the Rockefeller skating rink, where the famous golden statue of Prometheus (god of fire) is located. Hundreds of skaters every night at the rink adds fun to the viewing of this glittering Christmas tree.
